June 2001

And on the first of the month too. Must be summer with no academic responsibilities.

1) Make your plans now to attend the CBI/CMA/ACP National Convention in New Orleans October 25-28. Plane fares are much cheaper if you book them now. So is advance registration. Check student press.org/acp/conventions.html for hotel and conference information. Students bring your advisors--advisors bring your students.

2) If you haven't already done so, send in your membership dues for the coming year. The organization cannot grow without your support via membership and involvement.

3) Joel Willer is compiling a list of candidates who applied for the coming board election. Look for your ballot in early fall and please vote.

4) Would those who agreed in Las Vegas to contribute chapters for the web site please let me know of your timetable--you know who you are. Any one else on the list that feels they can offer insight to other college broadcasters on any of the topics below, let me know. Each will posted in the CBI Handbook on our web site which is being created as we speak (read). These can be from the television or radio perspective or both:

News Sales/Underwriting Student Management Sports Recruitment/Orientation of New Members Training/Retention Working with Administration & Campus Organizations Music Company Relations Station & Community Staff Recognition Public Relations Station Programming Getting A Job Format vs Free Form FCC/Manager's Checklist Budgeting & Funding Sources Students Managing Students

There are other topics which have been chosen by others, but speak up if you think there is a topic area that needs to be covered.

5) Have a great start to summer!
