May 2003 CBI Newsletter

Hope your summer gives you the time to re-energize...and best of luck to all of the graduating seniors as they enter the job force. We hope to see you on a CBI conference panel in your professional role soon.

1) If you missed it, first quarter Issues/Programs list should have been placed in your Public File April 10th for FCC licensed stations.

2) You should have received the Call To Entry for the 2003 CBI Student Production Awards. Deadline is June 3rd. Thanks to Bill Neville and staff at Georgia Southern University for the design, printing and mailing. All information is also available at collegebroadcasters.org. Best of luck to all and to steal a phrase from the New York Lotto PR campaign, "you can't win if you don't play."

3) Member stations should be receiving over the next few days a call for CBI Board of Directors nominations for the 2003 elections. There are two two-year faculty/staff positions and one one-year student position open for the coming cycle. Please strongly consider applying to be a part of this fast-growing organization. We can't do it without you...

4) Reminder to reserve hotel space and flights this summer for the CMA/CBI/ACP National Convention in Dallas November 6-9. We're planning over 40 broadcast specific sessions to go with dozens more on leadership, management and more!

More information on the following is available at collegebroadcasters.org:

5) FCC licensed stations in the following states must air Pre-Filing Announcements May 16, June 1 and June 16: Distract of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia. Your license renewal in these states only (FCC Form 303-S) must be filed by June 1.

North Carolina and South Carolina station begin Pre-Filing Announcements June 1 and June 16.

6) Ownership Reports (FCC Form 323) must be filed by June 1st if your station is in Arizona, Idaho, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, District of Columbia.

7) Stay in touch via the website this summer for breaking news about the webcasting issue. Things can change by the day--especially in June.
