We are planning the fall convention in New OrleansKansas City, THE Largest Student Media Convention in the Nation!!

The Conferences!

The Fall Conference 2005!
October 27-30, 2005
Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans In Kansas City at the Westin and Hyatt complex

UPDATE: As you know, New Orleans and a large portion of the third coast have been devastated by Katrina. Our deepest sympathies go out to all those affected by the on-going problems and the losses suffered by those in the region. CBI has taken a couple some steps to continue to provide its members with the level of service they expect in the wake of Katrina.

We have put links to resources our stations can use to aid those who have survived Katrina on our home page and encourage you to post links as well.

The National convention has moved from New Orleans to Kansas City. Our thanks to CMA and ACP, our convention partners for their efforts to make this new venue available!

    Convention Update
  • The convention has moved to Kansas City
  • The convention will be held at the Westin and the Hyatt complex, which includes two hotels with a walkway between them. The CBI sessions will primarily by in the Westin, so you will want to make your reservations accordingly.
  • There is a large shopping center in the complex so you will be able to find some less expensive meals.
  • A student entertainment guide for the area, which will be distributed on site.
  • The phone numbers for the hotels to make reservations are:
    Westin 888-627-8538
    or the Hyatt 800-233-1234.
Be sure to tell them that you are asking for the College Media Convention rate.
  • If you already made reservations, the Hyatt Hotels WILL NOT transfer those reservations automatically. They should automatically cancel New Orleans Hyatt reservations, but it would be prudent to call and confirm.
  • Room Rates: Single Room, $149.00, Double 159.00, Triple/Quad $169.00, plus a $1.50 per night Kansas City Development fee, plus 14.85 taxes of other kinds
  • If you previously registered for the convention, (not hotel rooms) the registration is still valid and there is no need to register again.
  • If you have not already registered, on-line registration is available.
  • Early registration discounts are available until October 5, 2005.
  • Information about our host city is available http://www.visitKC.com.

In order for your station to fully benefit from this gigantic event, you will need to send a lot of people, including your program directors, station managers, advisers, news staff, sports people, sales/underwriting folks, music directors, etc. This event is BIG.

Stay tuned to this page for updates! Whether you are an independent station or an academic outlet, if you have students involved in your operation, you will find the fall conference to be worth every penny! You can qualify for a discount by joining CBI. The CBI discount often saves stations more than the cost of membership! Membership also allows your station to enter the NATIONAL STUDENT PRODUCTION AWARDS CONTEST FOR FREE!
